History and Cities

This seminar introduces the concept of urban history and the study of cities in History. The course will examine different thematic approaches to urban history (such as city and gender, city and work, urbanization, city and environment, city and health), and also how historians have used these approaches in their research. We focus on methodologies and experiences of urban history research. Students can and should suggest new books and articles pertinent to their research.
