Environmental History of China

We are delighted to invite for the first 2025.2 meeting of the History and Nature Laboratory (LabHeN), affiliated with the UFRJ History Institute. For this in-person event, we are joined by History Professor Dr. Bao Maohong, from Peking University, China. The event will take place in the Salão Nobre of the Institute of History,  Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, at Largo de São Francisco, downtown Rio de Janeiro.

Dr. Bao Maohong is a professor in the Department of History at Peking University, and was the director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the same institution. He is a senior associate researcher at the Center for World Environmental History at the University of Sussex. He holds a PhD in History from Peking University and his research focuses on the modern history of Asia and Africa and their relationship to the field of environmental history. His current project is entitled “Economic Development and Environmental Governance in East Asia after World War II.”
