The Center for Jewish Studies at UFRJ (NIEJ), created in 2008, is dedicated to teaching, academic debate, and research in Jewish studies. It is also a laboratory of the Institute of History and the Department of Sociology at UFRJ, associated mainly, but not exclusively, with the Contemporary History field. t serves as an umbrella organization, encompassing and coordinating the many academic and extra-curricular programs in Jewish Studies. Its members include faculty who teach and research in the fields of history, social sciences, philosophy, and letters. Its International Board is composed of leading specialists in Jewish Studies in Brazil and abroad, and it counts with a creative team of undergraduate and graduate students.
