O colóquio teatro e sociedade: novas perspectivas da história social do teatro é uma iniciativa do Grupo de Pesquisa História do Teatro Brasileiro, grupo cadastrado no CNPq, que reúne pesquisadores de várias regiões do país e é coordenado por Elza de Andrade e Tania Brandão. Através deste colóquio, buscamos divulgar e aprofundar as discussões recentes que articulam a produção teatral e a vida social, próprias de um campo que vem se desenvolvendo de modo muito produtivo no Brasil e no exterior nos últimos anos.

Unstable website and SIGA
Since the fire at UFRJ’s headquarters, last week, SIGA, TIC and other UFRJ online services are unreliable, including PPGHIS website. We do not know when the situation will be normalized. In the meanwhile, use email (ppghis.ufrj@gmail.com) and keep checking this mirror website (on construction).
Oral history, Memory and Experience in the struggle for rights
The Nucleum for Oral History and Memory invite all for hte event “Oral history, Memory and Experience in the struggle for rights.
It marks the end of the project “Vozes de Antígona: depoimentos de familiares de vítimas de violência de Estado em contexto democrático, no Rio de Janeiro.”

Academic structure
Students, both doctoral and master’s, must attend the Research Seminar of their Research Line in the first year, in which their advisor professor is enrolled.
For number of credits and courses, expected outcome at the end of each year, and deadline for annual reports, check in this website, respectively, the academic timetable for masters’and doctoral students.
Students must discuss with their advisors any deviation from the timetable. Advisors should explain and justify it in their review of the annual reports or in the Collegiate meetings.

Annual Application Process
The PPGHIS admission process takes place once a year, for both master’s and doctoral degrees. The Call for Applications can vary significantly from one year to the next, and therefore it is very important to carefully read the details of the Call for Applications in effect that year. It is an extremely elaborate process, which involves the entire faculty of the Program.
Calls for Applications are usually published in August of each year, and the admission process takes place between the beginning of October, and it concludes in December. Between 2020 and 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these dates were changed.
Since 2018, registration for the PPGHIS selection process has taken place exclusively online, for a maximum of 30 vacancies.
For the 2024 selection process, we had 267 applications, 199 from candidates for the Master’s course and 68 for the PhD course.
For all appeals, the Selection Coordination is the last decision-making body, and no external appeals are possible.
International applicants may follow a different path to enter the Program, as shown on the website.
